Kyle Berkshire’s 2024 Golf Vacation with Old Sod Golf
Kyle Berkshire may already be a house-hold name to you, but in case you don’t recognise him or his magnificent hair, then you may recall that Kyle Berkshire is an American golfer who competes as a professional long drive athlete. He has won the World Long Drive Championship on three occasions, in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
When the opportunity arose through high-school connections and via Old Sod Golf founder Tom Casey for us to help Kyle and his girlfriend Meghan visit some of the world’s best courses, we jumped on board right away.
Kyle stayed in Scotland for seven nights and six in Ireland. In Scotland, he visited the St. Andrews Old Course, played at Carnoustie and Royal Troon, and enjoyed Trump Turnberry's iconic Alisa course as well as their remarkable second course, the King Robert the Bruce course. He visited North Berwick and Edinburgh before then flying to Dublin, Ireland and making his way south to Old Head Golf Links, located 20 minutes outside the village of Kinsale.
Old Head is a must-play for our golf clientele and it really does blow you away - the views from the course are incredible and the quality of accommodations and service are impeccable. Kyle had met with the golf pro and now Director of Golf at Old Head, Enda Maguire, at the PGA Show several years prior and Enda had invited Kyle to visit and when it turned out that Enda and Conor Deegan, Old Sod’s resident golf professional and golf manager knew each other very well, it was a match made in heaven/Kinsale!
While in Ireland, Kyle stayed in the wonderful Old Head Suites for three nights (pictured).
Kyle visited the always wonderful Trump Doonbeg in county Clare for a couple of nights before finishing in the excellent Grand Hotel in Malahide, Dublin ahead of his onward flight to Australia.
While in Ireland, Kyle had a pretty extensive photo/video-shoot with a studio firm at Old Head. These images will be used in the launch of the new Puma clothing and possibly with Cobra the golf club manufacturer that Kyle is associated with. In order to make this happen, Conor was asked to play a few holes with Kyle in Old Head and we have it on good authority that he “kept his own” with Kyle!
Kyle was very appreciative of the efforts of Old Sod Golf in pulling it all together for him and he looks forward to visiting both destinations again in the near future. Old Sod Golf & Conor are looking forward to helping you plan your next golf adventure in The UK and/or Ireland. You can reach Conor at [email protected] or complete the inquiry form on their website.
Massive thanks go out to our very special golf industry partners on this trip for ensuring Kyle had such an amazing experience.
